This short but unforgettable 2-day desert tour from Dakhla offers a true Saharan experience: golden dunes, dramatic canyon-like landscapes, and a peaceful night under the stars. Discover hidden tracks, meet desert wildlife, and share moments with local herders in a remote and wild environment. From the coastal plateau to the heart of the desert, this adventure promises both tranquility and discovery.
Day 1: Dakhla – Limestone Cliffs – Desert Camp
Your adventure begins as we follow an old track across the coastal plateau. We stop at traditional herders’ wells nestled among limestone cliffs—an ideal spot to witness nomadic life. If camels or goats are nearby, you may even get to taste fresh milk.
Lunch is served inside a herder’s hut for an authentic local experience.
In the afternoon, we venture deeper into the desert, crossing sculpted cliffs and miniature canyons shaped by wind and rain. As we reach the rolling dunes, we choose the perfect spot to set up camp. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner around the fire, then relax under the vast night sky—ideal for stargazing and, depending on the season, spotting nocturnal animals like fennec foxes.
Overnight: Wild camp in the dunes
Day 2: Dunes Drive – White Dune or Ramsar Bay – Return to Dakhla
After breakfast in the open desert, we pack up camp and explore the nearby dunes. Enjoy the thrill of driving across soft sand and feel the silence of the desert all around.
As we make our way back toward the coast, we may take a detour—if tides and time allow—to visit the iconic White Dune or the heart of the Ramsar-listed Dakhla Bay, a haven for migratory birds and other wildlife.
Arrive back in Dakhla by late afternoon, with unforgettable memories of the desert.
